POWER CONTROL
URBAN AND RURAL BOARDS. PALMERSTON NORTH, August 11. The Manawatu-Oroua Power Board in pursuance of its policy of endeavouring to secure" an amalgamation of rural and, urban districts in power board areas, decided at its meeting yesterday to extend an invitation to all boards favouring the proposal to meet in conference in Wellington and wait on the Prime Minister, Rt. ,Hon. G. W. 'Forbes, and the Minister of Public Works.
■Replies were received ait yesterday’s meeting from many of the boards to whom the board had written for their opinion of the question. £jeven boards favoured the proposed amalgamation, two stated they could not support . the proposal, two received the communication, while two others considered it was a matter for the Power Boards’ Association or the Public Works Deportment Mr M. A. Elliott considered the replies were of no value, for six out of 13 boards were opposed to the proposal, The communication had be«n sent only to those 'boards that were favourable.

The chairman, Mr 0. McElroy, said the cities would not be suffering, any injustice ! by having the control of their electric light and power placed in the hands of the power boards. The resolution was cairried.
