Amazing dole impositions have been disclosed as the result of a. general •test?' check call, made by'the Department of Labour, fen the Metropolitan and, South Coasts districts. Inquiries revelled that food relief had been obtained improperly at the rate, ot £160,000 per annum. Nearly six thousand failed to call, indicating that there were at least this number ot persons obtaining the dole relief by dishonest means. About ninety thousand dole recipients participated in the general check. The crowd at Circular, Quay, encouraged by; Communists, broke down the barriers in an effort to duplicate their cards. The police arrested one man with four duplicate cards in his possession.

At Port Kembla more than 33 per cent of those receiving relief were reported to be impositions.
