Mr Stanley Bruce, Australian Min-{ ister, interviewed here, said that Australia- was facing her troubles manfully. “We have improved our position greatly during the past year,” he said, “and we are now very hopeful of Australia’s future. Aus- 1 tralia, .in the face,of the gravest difficulties,* has succeeded in meeting every obligation.” The Governor of Hawaii sent a message' of greeting to the New Zealand and Australian delegates, who, will be his guests to-morrow.

It is- understood that His Majesty will probably open, the Ottawa Conference by telephone if mechanical preparations ensure a good reception, otherwise His Majesty’s address will be cabled.

The British delegation which now numbers one hundred Government representatives, is taking the highest qualified experts for every phase of: the Conference, including several leading Treasury officials.
