The National Economy Bill, badly battered through weeks of controversy was finally approved on Tuesday night. The Bill carries savings estimated at one hundred and fifty million dollars.
N.Z STUD SHEEP SOLD.
SYDNEY June 29
At the stud sheep sales to-day, on acount of Mr Donald Grant, of New Zealand, two Border Leicester stud ewes fetched £ll each; 25 Romney Marsh flock rams two guineas each. On account of Mr Rennie, Canterbury, New 'Zealand, three Border Leicester flock rams fetched three guineas each, and ten Southdowns flock rams four guineas each.
SUBMARINE HITS SHIP
RUGBY, June 28
While the submarine Rainbow was leaving Portland Harbour she came into collision with the s.s. Premier, a smaller pleasure steamer. The Rainbow sustained only superficial damage, but the steamer was holed in her starboard side and returned to Weymouth. Her passengers were transferred to the submarine and subsequently;• landed. The steamer, which wnjsvleaking badly, 'was towed into Weymouth by two motor-boats. Sh e had 150 passengers aboard. No one was hurt.
