MAORI CHARGED
WITH SHOOTING WITH INTENT. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) CARTERTON, June 30. John Richards, a native, appeared at the Police Court yesterday charged with discharging a firearm at Reuben Ivopu, another native, with intent to do grievous bodily barm. The two Maoris were admittedly bad friends and on tlio night of Juno lltli. Richards is alleged to have fired a gun at Kopu, one pellet entering his wrist. The wound was not serious. The gun was fired at a distance of one hundred yards. After hearing evidence, Justices committed the accused to the Supreme Court at Wellington for trial. Bail self in £2OO and two others of a similar amount-. Accused pleaded not guilty.
