WEST COAST TIMBER WORKERS SUPPORT GIVEN FOR MINERS At a meeting of the executive of on it was decided to light further induction in wages. Further resolutions carried were: (1) That this meeting of the Timber Workers’ Union enters an emphatic protest agianst the inaction of tire Lands Department in reference to throwing open an area of white pine at Aratika, portion of which will be destroyed by the hydro works dam. (2) That every endeavour he made to assist the miners’ organisation •against the arbitrary attitude adopted by tho mineowners, who apparently have the secret backing of the Government in a fight to reduce the already low standard of wages and conditions in mines throughout New Zealand. We pledge ourselves to do all possible to assist the miners in ~,uy action they take to retain afc least their present standard of wages and conditions, as we realise that any reduction forced on the miners’ organisations through want of outside industrial organisations’ backing will instantly be forced on all other organisations.
