Discussing the effect of the recent alteration made in tile departure time of the ordinary Main Trunk- express which now leave® lour hours earlier than previously, Mr H. Sterling, chairman of the Railways Board, said yesterday that it was unfortunate that in consequence of the general depression, services were not being heavily loaded aC'pfescnt and that il the drop in businfi£s;'s!lowed signs of being further prolonged, for any length of time it might become.necessary for the hoard to undertake a further review of the express services, il) the North Island in the direction of-spine reduction.
