Uy Telegraph —ter tress Association;

WELLINGTON, May 23

In reply to a question to-day, the Prime Minister stated that the National Expenditure Commission would l>e unable to submit its main report by the specified time on the Ist of June, and so a. further extension or time would be granted it of about a month.

The Commission's interim report, published in March, he said, contained recommendations for cuts in the cost of administration in many of the branches and phases of the Public Service organisation, but only one or two of the Government Departments were dealt with.

“The main report,” said Mr Forbes, “will deal extensively with the Government offices.” ■
