FIREMAN GAOLED
FOR ATTACK ON OFFICER

WELLINGTON, May 17
An attack on Archibald McSporran, officer on the Raranga, when he went to the forecastle to recover a cheese stolen while the vessel was loading at New Plymouth, resulted in William Hall Stanfield, a fireman, getting two months’ to-day. It was •stated 1 that the Shipping Company would guarantee that the accused would go back to England in one of its vships, when discharged from gaol.
