In the House of Commons, the Government in presenting the Alines Jflsti mates revealed that last year 2,343 coal mines, employing 868,000 men, produced 219,000,000 tons, compared with 3,289 mines, 1,105,000 men ana 287,000,000 tons in 1931. The restriction is due partly to the use or alternative forms of fuel, light and power, and the decrease in foreign hunker shipments andl general trade depressin, especially in the iron, steel and shipbuilding. -Coal exports declined six hundred thousand tons during the past quarter, compared with the same quarter of 1931, chiefly owing to tile French, Belgian and German jj TidtFYesEftctToTfsr 7 1
