HAS SEEN FOUR BIG WARS. CHRISTCHURCH, May 4. Air, Charles who. lives with his daughter at 348 Armagh Street, Christchurch, has celebrated his one hundred and first birthday. Mr Forder has lived during the reigns of four sovereigns. William IV., Victoria. Edward VII, and George V., and has seen four major wars, the Crimean, the Indian Mutiny, the South African, and the Great War.
Air Forder carne to New Zealand 60 years ago in the Edwin Fox, bringing with him his wife and six children. He fo.lowed the building trade, and spent all his life in New Zealand in the province o: Canterbury. He is proud of his greatgrnnddauglito ’, a representative of the fourth* generation. Mr Forder is still fairly well, hut is not able to got about. He spends his time sitting in front of tlie filjp reading the newspapers. His hearing is .impaired. hut his. sight is still -fairly good, and ho does not give that his years are so mnnv.^.
