CHRISTCHURCH, April 13

There was a small yarding of beef, but it was not an attractive entry, only n few consignments being of finst quality. There was a dragging sale. The second grade lots tvefe sold on n lower basis, . Extra heavy gtepvg sold to £ll 17s 6d, prime £9 Ids to £9 Ids, medium (steers £5 Ids to £6 Ids, light from £2 17s 6d. Best heifers sold up to £8 2s 6d, prime £5 5s to £7, light from £3 ss. Best heavy cows sold to £8 7s 6d, prime £a 5s to £0 ss, medium £3 2s 6d to £3 17s 6d, inferior from 25isi.

There was a larger yarding of fat pigs, with the larger proportion of heavy weights. Baconers' maintained the late rates. Porkers were easier. Values were: Porkers 32s to 35s 6d, heavy 36s to 40s; choppers £2 to £4 Is 6d, baeonerfc 38s to 44s 6d, heavier 4Gs 6d to 54s 6d; extra heavy to £3 Is 6d.

Store pigs were forward in over svpply. The market was easier. There was another large yarding of fat sheep of mixed quality. The market opened with cautious buying, and the opening values were hard to maintain. It was a dragging sale throughout. Best heavy wether® sold to 19s 10s, prime 16s to 18s 6d, medium 13s to 15s, inferior from 10s. Beet heavy ewes sold from 12s 6d to 13s, prime 9s 6d to 11b 6d, medium 7s to 8® 6d, inferior from 4s.

There was a full yarding of fat lambs. Competition was steady. Price® were up to the schedule. Tnferior lots were easier. Best heavy prime lambs sold to 241 5 , good prime 17s Od to 18s 6d, medium 13s 6d to 17s, light 11s to 13s, plain from 9s 6d. There was a large offering of store lambs mostly backward lots. The market was irregular.

Store isheep were forward in large numbers from many outlying districts.

Very few attracrivo efipsignments were on offer. The demand lacked buoyancy but practically all lots were sold having come from long locaities.
