VISIT OF GENERAL HIGGINS.

PALMERSTON N., March 23
General and Mrs Higgins arrived from Auckland at seven this morning and were accorded a, rousing reception by Salvationists as they stepped off the train. They were met by the Mayor and Mayoress and district officers of the Army. At.noon the Rotai-y Club and Chamber of Commerce gave a luncheon in their honour.
This afternoon a civic reception is being held, to he followed by a big gathering of Salvationists this evening. Representatives of the Army in outlying towns in central and north division have congregated here and massed bands are contributing to one of the most notable gatherings of Salvationists in the history of this city.
