.The Pardey Rapporteur Budget Committee forecasts a deficit of thirtymillions sterling.
AMERICAN IMPORT DUTIES.
WASHINGTON, March 21
A spirit of compromise on the billion dollar Tax Bill led . the House Ways and Means Committee to-day fo vote for the removal of the proposed levies,oil foods,_ clothing and prescribed medicines.
The decision goes Far towards beating 'down -all opposition to a 2.25 per cent, levy on manufactured, articles, and eliminates about 150 million dollars from the- revenue of 595 million dollars, expected from the levy under the original programme.
The acting-Chairmnn (Mr Crisp) said that the committee must get something else, to make up the difference.

CANCELLED BY POWERS

Trotsky’s .holiday was cancelled because Turkey refuses to guarantee his freedom 'to return. The Czechoslovakian Government has therefore withdrawn permission for him to enter the country.
