AUCKLAND, March 20.
The third and final Auckland wool sale was held on Saturday, ar.d brought to an end one of the most discouraging seasons on record. Prices for fine wools were one penny lower than those obtained at the Auckland sale in January, and at Napier sale last Wednesday, the' inferior qualities being approximately three farthings lower.
As the prices obtained "ere £d to i ! d per lb. lower than the rates ruling at the commencement of the season, the growers who had held their wool back in expectation of an improvement were gravely disappointed. The average price for crossbreds was a shade over 4d per lb., or approximately £5 14s per bale, compared with 4.73 d per pound and £6 11s Id per bale received at the January sale. The bulk of the„ clip was crossbred, a great deal of it being rough -and yellow, and carrying a good deal of geed. Fine crossbred sold freely at 4£d to oAcl a lb., some lots fetching 6d and (>/ r d.
