Following the proclamation of a general strike at Belfast, Reds and Royalists clashed at night. Workmen attempted to suck the Catholic liewspaper“Gaeeta~Del Norte”, and shot the doorkeeper'. They subsequently attempted to fire a convent, but were repulsed by armed Royalists, with several casualties. Troops guarded the principal religious buildings. Communists marched to the prison and obliged the authorities to release two comrades. Following an altercation between ERoyabsts and young Republican workers at the city of Bilbao, North Spain, in which four Republicans were shot dead, there was a . general strike declared. The city is now paralysed. Traffic and business are at a standstill.
