AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. (By Telegraph— Per Press Association) , AUCKLAND,. Jan 20. The second Auckland wool sale oi the season was held to-day when £o,214 bales, were offered to a large and representative bench of buyers. The prices were aproximately on a par with those at the uusat.sfactory opening sale of the Reason, with lialtbreds id to ltd per pound betted, in, sympathy with the improvement in the South, but the recent improvement in ciossbreds was not fully maintained, and there were reductions of R] to id compared with last Napier sale. The average price of good cross breds was a shade under five pence, or seven pounds per bale. The top price, of Hid, was.paid for five bales of Southdown A.reclassed wool. Two other lots brought elevenpence. The great bulk of the offering was new season’s wool, but the prices failed to reach the grower’s reserve for 35 per cent, of the catalogue The. following official report was issued by the wool brokers: —“The bidding was animated at times,' but was somewhat erratic. About 6o per cent, of the offering was sold under the hammer. The wool generally was not in as good condition ns at the first Auckland sale, except for a. few super lines,' Brices generally, were .about a halG penny up on half-breds in sympathy with tffe southern snips, but medium and low cross-breds, unless showing style did not attract much eompeti. tion.”
