CHRISTCHURCH, January 15.
The most important, section ol the Dominion bowling tournament rinks championship was commenced on ten city and suburban greens to-day when ■lO2 rinks from all parts competed. They have been divided into ten section, and two games will be pla.wd each day for four days. Rai”. "Inch set in just after play finished last evening, improved the greens tremendously. This morning was fine with a light south-west wind. In the first game today, the Dunedin rink, skipped by -earn, who won t!.‘ rinks championship at Auckland last year were defeated by the R«sl.v» rink (Armstrong) 27 to 26. J fare’s rink was not exactly the same as last year, in that Morrison replaced J. D. Best, who had formerly been lead.
