Tex McLeod had the surprise of his life on his return from Australia, to find himself banned from performing here .after Monday, under the new Home Office policy, restricting the licenses of foreign artists. Tex McLeod is an American, spinner of ropes and yarns, and has been appearing at intervals over twelve years. Some of his caustic references to British politicians have become bywords. Tlie Government does not object to occasional limited visits ol foreign artists, but, in view of the unemployment, it feels bound to scrutinise their claims and to prevent-any prolonged stay.
FRANCE HITTING BACK
PARIS, January 8. [f Britain bans French music ball and other performers under her new policy hundreds of British dancing girls for the Tiller and other Troups will be sent back to England. British musicians have already banned France.
