Since the opening of the relief depot in Fitzherbert Street for the relief of families in need, by the ’Women’s Benevolent Committee, under whose auspices the depot is being organised, a fair quantity of clothes has been, received from residents whose response to the appeal , has been worthy. The organisers wish it to be pointed out that persons desirous of help must make application to the depot between the hours of 2 and 4 o’clock. In addition to clothes, quantities of butter and sugar have also been received while milk can be obtained, and it is the earnest desire to see these goods distributed before Christmas, for which reason the depot was opened at the beginning of this week, although notice has been short. The excellent work of the Committee will not expire with the passing of the liolij day season hut will continue until I and after the New Year.
