A RACING PROTEST
SEIZURE OF CROUPIER. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 11, ‘ A strong protest has been lodged with the New Zealand Racing Conference by J. J. Corry against the action of J, and J. Paterson, in having Croupier forcibly seized after the race of the G. G. Stead Cup at the C.J.C. meeting on November 14. Cony’s representatives made a statement which is not available for publication, hut it is understood to emphatically deny that the seizure was made under any process of law. It is understood that further legal proceedings are being instituter). tor the recovery of Croupier. Meantime, the prospects of further wins in valuable engagements that had been, and might have been made, are' being lost, as tlio existing registration prevents the colt being raced in any other name than that of Corry.
Owing to the proximity of the legal vacation, Court proceedings will probably have to he held over till after the New Year. There is therefore little chance of Croupier beng able to Fulfil his present Ellerslie engagements.
