Considerable length submerged, dangerous to navigation.” UNLICENSED WINE SALES'. . DUNEDIN, November ' 30. Morris Jones, charged with, selling home-made wine without a license, was fined £2O. On a charge of making wine, the defendant was convicted; the wine and vessels were ordered to be forfeited. HOTEL DESTROYED. PALMERSTON N., December 1. A spectacular fire at 1.45’ p.m., yesterday destroyed the Junction Hotel, of eighteen rooms at Sanson. The building was owned by Mr E. Dwyer, of "Wanganui, and occupied by Mr J. E. Parker. With a strong gale blowing the two-storeyed ! tvo~od6h‘ building 1 was reduced to ruins in three quarters of an hour. There was barely time for the licensee's son to clear the safe of its coilterits. The fire brought down important telegraph power linesj temporarily interrupting the service,
