NORTH ISLAND LAMBING SEASON. (By Telegraph—Per Press A ssociation) WELLINGTON, November 25. The Department of Agriculture advises that from information furnished by Inspectors of rStock in various districts, the average lambing for the current season in the North Island is estimated at 86.49 per cent., compared with 83.19 per cent, last year. With >9,247,005 breeding ewes in the North Island as shown in the 1951 sheep returns, the number of lambs this season is estimated at 7,998,247. The (South Island-- ah cl Dominion estimates will he announced later. HOSPITAL BOARD ORDERS. CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. Storekeepers supplying the holders of the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s orders for rations with goods other than those specified, are likely to be prosecuted. The Board ordinarily supplies actual rations, but, to supply the recipients of relict living at .. distance, it is customary to give them orders on storekeepers. In order to test reports , that some storekeepers wore supplying goods other than those specified, a representative of the Boai« was sent with an order to a store. He was supplied: with tobacco, a tin ot peaches, chocolates, butter and matches.
