LATE LOCALS.
5 A sitting of the Juvenile Court was belli, at Hokitika this mjorning before Mr W. Mleklrum, S.M. A boy of 14 years, who stole two watches valued at £5, was admonished and discharged. Two charges were preferred aganist another lad. For stealing a bicycle, valued at £2, lie was admonished and discharged and an order was made for the return of the bicycle. He was also admonished for breaking telegraph insulators and discharged.
A meeting of the local Unemployment Committee was held at the Town Hall this forenoon to meet Mr Davies (of the Labour Department). Present: The Mayor in the chair, Messrs Heenan, Evans, Harvey, and MoGavin. Several local mining applications were dealt, with, three being recommended and others referred back for further : report. The Committee brought: before Mr Davies the necessity of increasing the weekly qiiota as the local men were being curtailed in tjme and payment.
