WELLINGTON, November 20. The Westlake will case was dontin ued.
Mrs J. E. MacDonald of Masterton, a sister of Mi's Westlake, said Westlake used to thrash the children when young and also locked his wife in a soom. Sometimes he did not give her sufficient food, and finally at her sister’s request, witness took the childen to her own home. Occasionally witness went to see her sister at Pahiatua. Westlake- behaved in a peculiar way. He did not speak to- the children.
Geroge Burns, a farmer of Mokomoko > said he had been very friendly with Westlake. Twice Westlake said he would shoot his daughter Grace. He always -became upset at the si gut or mention of her.
