CANBERRA, November 20.

Tire Leadov of the Opposition, Sir George Pearce, moved an adjournment of the Senate to discuss the activities of the Communist Party in Australia.

He quoted from Communist newspapers and sajcl that every section of the workers was being “white anted,” and there was a carefully organised conspiracy to overthrow the existing state of society in the Commonwealth, and to overthrow the Empire. Sir George Pearce said that the “Workers’ Weekly” published orders were issued from Moscow as to what was to he done in. Australia, and it showed where these orders were icted upon, especially in the recent shipping strike.

Senator Thompson: “Why not charge these people ivitli sedition ?” Senator Barnes: “They may be seditious. If so, they must be dealt with. We are prepared to take every action ltecessal’y.

Senator Rae said that he failed to hear any arguments showing why Communism should be summarily dealt with.

Senator Pnyne: "You belong to the Friends of Soviet Union.” Senator Rae: “Yes, and’l intend to remain in it.”
