Chinese gunmen began firing near the Japanese Concession amir • twice during the night. They were joined by larger groups, who attacked the Chinese police. Simultaneously, several shells, believed to have been fired by the Japanese with trench mortars, fell near the American Methodist Mission. One of the Japanese shells hit the Girls’ School at the Mission.

TOYKO, November 11

The Japanese War Office officially denies reports that there was fighting on Alonday between Chinese and Japanese regular troops, but- states that Japanese guards dispersed a large body of bandits, who were looting Chinese villages within the railway zone, tiie bandit casualties bein fe heavy. Their leader was killed, and order was restored.

LEAGUE COUNCIL MEETS AGAIN. j. RUGBY, November 10. Sir J. Simon will attend a meeting of the League of Nations’ Council at Paris on Monday, when the examination of the China-Japanese dispute in Manchuria will he resumed.
