SPONTANEOUS GIFTS
TO BRITISH NATION. United Press Association-—By Electric Telegraph.—(Copyright.) LONDON, October 22. An interesting sidelight of the crisis is the remarkable number of spontaneous gifts to the nation which have taken various forms, cash, gold coins, ornaments, and jewellery, in addition to Government stoek, national saving certificates, scores of temporary and permanent surrenders of interest of Government securities, war and old age pensions, and long service pensions. The gifts are not confined to England. They come from Dominmns and Colonies and even from foreign citizens, who have no connection with Britain than that beyond friendship and goodwill.
