(By Telegraph—Per Press Association)
NEW PLYMOUTH, October 1
Mrs Hemsley and her four-year-old child were killed in a motor smash on the Pohokura Saddle on the Stratford Main Trunk railway this evening. It is understood that the child was killed when the car plunged over a bank and turned several somersaults. Mrs Hemsley, who was the wife of a carpenter at the Ta-ngarakau Flat construction camp was so severely injured that she died on the way home with a constable. The bodies are being brought to Stratford to-night, and should arrive early this morning.
