Stainforth in the Vickers supermarine seaplane, 36 8, fitted with a specially-tuned sprint Rolls-Royce engine, designed to develop 2600 horse power, attempted to lower his own world’s speed record of 379 miles per hour. Some hours must elapse before the results of the attemps are revealed on the films by which the sueed is recorded. LONDON, September 29.
Stainforth’s speed was 408.8 miles per hour. The fastest laps were at 415.2. 405.1, 409.5, 405.4.
