OF SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS. 'By Telegraph—Per Press Association) K. * WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. The annual Conference of South African Veterans was opened by the Defence Alinister, Hon Oobbe. Captain J. J. Clark was in the,chair. ’Phe Alinister said New Zealand had a very distinguished past in the matter of violunlteering. In regard 1 to the rehabilitation of ex-soldiers, two vocational officers had been appointed and it was hoped they r would get to work soon.

Included in the Conference business are remits relating to pension matters, a remit suggesting the D'.S.S. Act he re-opened and that South African veterans he eligible for benefits as recommended by Rehabilitation Commission, and a remit inviting a Conference from all Servicemen • Associations to consider the formation of one United Ex-Servicemen's League.
