SEARCH FOR STANTON
BY THE UNEMPLOYED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 7. Tlie search . for Warwick Stanton was continued to-day, but without any success. The search has now resolved itself into an effort from two camps of buslimein, employed under the No. 5 Scheme. One camp contains nineteen men, and the other sixteen men. The snow imposed a definite limit on to-day’s operations, but two men, with sheep dogs, are now on the spot. RESCUE POLICY. VIEWS OF MOUNTAIN CLUBS. WELLINGTON, September 7. The action taken by Mr R. Syme. Vice-President of the Ruapehu SkiClub in, organising a search party on the night that the party of students at the National Park failed to return, was commended at a meeting of delegates of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand in Wellington, today. The Federation condemned any general policy such as was stated by the manager of The Chateau, Mr R. Oobbe, who opposed the despatch of searchers- before 3 a.m. The members were of the opinion that in the despatch of -search parties the circumstances and conditions must always be taken into consideration, A motion was carried endorsing Mr Symes’ action, and expressing the opinion that, under the conditions prevail-, ing, his decision to act without delay was -in accordance with the accepted principles of mountaineering., , It was decided to request the National Park Board to call -a conference of Alpine Clubs, - and experienced individuals to formulate a policy of safety measures. It was recommended that the Board should construct a bridal track, with direction posts, between the Wakapapa and Ohakune huts, and the erection of a shelter hut midway was also favoured. ..
