CRITICISM FROM THE BENCH. (By Telegraph —Per Press. Association) WELLINGTON, September 7. The Committee h*d the definite view that if licensees do not comply with the law they should not hold licenses," said the Chairman of the ‘jEiicwsiwg-* Committeej*'Mv Page, at the quarterly meeting held to-day. Mr Tags said that one of the licensees had had two convictions during the quarter, and ~ there was another charge pending against him. The Committee did not propose to deal with the matter at, the present sitting, but their view • was that if convictions followed one another, the licensee would have to lose his license. If any steps were contemplated, the Licensee’s Council would be given an opportunity to state his case.
