STUDENTS SLIP 3000 FEET

AUCKLAND. August 28
Losing their footholds ion tjhe ice slope of Mount Ngaurauhoe. four students of Victoria University College slipped three thousand leet down a step incline, while descending the volcano.
\V. Clark struck his head of a hummock of ice and was rendered uncon-
scious. Miss Alice Jacobs and Miss Gwen Bvdder bad their forearms bruised and frost bitten. All were sent to Raetibi hospital. The other girl in the party received minor injuries.
The climbens were not roped together. but were armed with ice axes. ” Clark attributed the accident to the steps having become partially filled and being insecure.
