The ' Government analyst reported that the two Geary sisters died from gas poisoning. The report substantiates the police theory that the victims were overcome while asleep by gas escaping from a leaking pipe,

WAR VETERAN’S DEATH
SYDNEY, August 28
Obituary—Major Henry Drummond Jackson, aged seventy-five. He had a, long, distinguished military career. He took part in the Zulu war and had a brother killed at Roche’s Drift, and Jackson was in the contingent which marched to the relief of the survivors. He also served in the Boer War and played a prominent part in the formation of New Zealand mounted infantry contingents, which be accompanied to South Africa.

Another prominent Sydney city solicitor, Bertram Heavener, has been struck off the rolls for unprofessional conduct in connection with his clients’ funds.
