MISS JOHNSON MEETS TORNADO.

TOKYO, August 27

A tornado compelled Miss Amy Johnson to return to Osaka. She, therefore, took the opportunity to visit Mr Chichester at Katsuura. He is making good progress, and lie keenly appreciated Miss Johnson’s visit.

After two blank days, the British Hcheider Cup team were able to resume practice at Calsliot today. On -Holiday and Tuesday heavy galas raged, but to-day the weather was beautifully fine, and flights were made both in one of the new Supermarine Rolls-Royce machines and the Gloster Napier. News is still anxiously awaited with regard to the participation of the French and Italian teams. DOX.

ARRIVES. AT NEW YORK

(Received this day at 10.15 a.rn.) NEW YORK, August 27. Conquering at last, ten months battle against fire, wind and wave the gigantic flying boat DOX arrived by a roundabout course from Germany today with 72 persons aboard. She came here direct , from Norfolk, Virginia.

Broadbent, whose long distance nonstop flights are making his name a byword in Australia, reached Sydney this evening Jfrom Rockhampton for an airplane overhaul.
