LONDON,. August 27. Both the French and the Italian air manoeuvres started last night.
The French manoeuvres are being held over the town of Nancy, which at night has to be in darkness, the blinds in the shops and houses being closely drawn. Motorists were not even allowed an inside, light. 1 Sirens sound and church bells ring for three minute s if the attacking squadrons penetrate the city’s defences, whereupon, .all the railway trains’ lights for a distance of fiftymiles mllst be extinguished. Even the signal lights must be put out. There wel’e nine hundred aeroplanes engaged, Italy’s manoeuvres include attacks on specified objectives by successive waves of fifty machines. The Italian air battles will be wirelesslv directed.
