CALCUTTA, August 8
Tbe Congress Committee at Bombay has chosen a national flag for India. The flag is composed of saffron, to represent courage and sacrifice; white, for peace and truth; and green tor faith and chivalry; with a' eharka, or spinning wheel, in the centre as the hope of the masses. The leaders of European groups in the Indian Legislative Assembly and the Bengal Legislative Council have cabled Mr MacDonald, Mr Baldwin and Mr Lloyd lGeorge, s tating that the declared policy ot certain of tbe Congress leaders is to force the RoundTable Conference to agree to secession from the Empire, under .a, threat of terrorism, and declaring that the Congress have been employed in the ins ince the Delhi agreements to intensify the hatred of Europeans. The European Group leaders ask the British leaders to consider the formation of a National Government to control the destinies of India during the period of transition.
