The building was very old, but had been modernised a few years ago by tlie owner, Mr V. Fitzpatrick. The general store was conducted by Mr W. Marshall. Practically nothing was salvaged -from the rapidly spreading fire. The stock was insured for £I2OO in the South. British and Queensland Offices. The building was insured in the State Office, but the amount- is not ascertainable. For. innately there was no wind, or the Town Hall adjoining could not have escaped;.
