A FURTHER .REMAND

Wellington, July 23. A further week’s remand was granted by Ml 1 Page iSAL, in tile case against Geotge Errol Coats, charged with murdering Phyllis Avis ,Symons,
Mr Treadwell who with Mr James appears for the accused, said he would like to know how many more applications would be made for remands. The task for the Crown and Defence was going to bo >a‘ very laborious one, and he could do little in preparing defence for the trial until he knew what evidence the pol’ce were-going to lead. Sub-Inspector Ward : I am unable to say at the present time. Perhaps when he appears next week’ we will be in a better position to say.
The Court was again packed, and many others had to remain outside. Rangiatu Handicap—(3) Merry Hunter 1,(4) Gran Chaco 2, (6) Flower 3. All started. Won by three lengths, second horse a short half length away. Time 1.19 1-5.
