LANG AND GOVERNOR.
AWAITING HOLME DECISION
Australian Press Association.)
(Received this day at S a.m.) SYDNEY, July 13
The people of Now South Wales are anxiously waiting the Dominions Office ruling in regard to the Governor’s refusal to allow the Lang Government to swamp the Legislative Council with Labour appointees. The consensus of opinion is according to the press that the Dominions Office will decline to interfere.
Some of Air Lang’s Ministers share this view, which is strengthened by a private cablegram received from the Agent General, Air Willis. The report is current that Air Lang contemplated another quarrel with the Upper House. He is known to he preparing a measure reducing the higher salaries of public officers to a £SOO maximum. Members of the Upper House have already described the measure as impossible and have no alternative hut to throw it out, as they will be powerless to amend it.
