POLICE RAID

ON CHINESE HOUSE

CHRISTCHURCH, July 13

Using baious, lumps of concrete and a large piece of wood, a party of constables forced their wav into a house in Alien Street last night and arrested four Chinese. It is understood that evidence of opium smoking was found. On arrival, the police, found the house strongly barricaded. Two constables climbed up and broke an upstairs window. When inside they opened the back door. The aoors inside the house were strongly bolted and some ot them were blocked with sheets of iron.
