WESTLAND RACING CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING. The Committee of the above Club met at Mclntosh's Club room, Hamilton Street at 8.35 o’clock last evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Williams (Chairman), F. McGregor, A. W. Yarm 11, M. Houston, O. J. P. Sellers, J. Peake, R. Whiley, H. Newman, ■ O. Neville, H. T. Parry, J. J. TAclntosh, H. Butland, J. J. Mclntosh jnr., and D. J. Evans. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. Before proceeding with the ordinary business, the Chairman referred to the news of the death of Mrs R. J. Seddon, and moved that a" letter be sent to the family expressing regret and sorrow at the bereavement. The motion was carried, members standing

in silence. The Westport Jockey. Club forwarded a donation of £5 os to the 1 unds of the Club, which was received with thanks. In connection with the appeal, it was reported that £42 13s 6d had been received, and £9O promised. The Secretary reported the accounts for the combined meeting had not been finalised, but the profit would not be large and not likely to exceed £BO. A suggestion was made to build the lower portion of the building in concrete and.ttie cost of this will be gone into in preparing the design.

The question of holding a Racing Club Ball was again mooted, and it was decided to call a meeting of ladeis to arrange to organise a hall for the commencement of September, the 2nd or the 9th of the month. The meeting then concluded.
