QUEST FOR TRADE
MR SAMUEL’S IDEA. (~By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 9. The Farmers’ Union Conference was addressed to-day by Mr Samuel, M.P.. who contended that the Government has done nothing in the present financial crisis to improve New Zealand trade abroad. He criticised what he termed “the paltry vote for publicity.” He emphasised; that it was the Government’s duty to seek increased markets so as to obviate in some measure the necessity of inflicting hardships on the community by increased taxation. The pioneering work that was required was in the shops and among the great directorates conti oiling the multiple shops.
