DUNEDIN STATISTICS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association, DUNEDIN, June 30. I Vital satisfies for Dunedin and district for the month ended June 30th are as follows, with the figures for the corresponding month of 1930 in parentheses: Birts 126 (142), deaths 101 (101), marriages 53 (53).j For the April-June quarter the figures are:— Births 361 (378). deaths 223 (227), marriages 158 (199). Tlxe Customs duties for the month of June, 1931, with those for the cor- | responding month of last year in pari entheses are: Customs duties £41,404, (£9-1,853) j beer £14,911 (£18,586); tyre duties £542 (£674); petrol £13,070 (£10,503). The figures for the AprilJune quarter, with those for the corresponding period of last year are.:— Customs duties £117,315 (£204,671); beer £51,718 (£51,387); tyre £2,252 (£2,486); petrol £38,303 (£30,685). Mention was made by Archdeacon Gavin at the Waikato Synod yesterday that Dean Broeklehurst, who had a narrow escape from death in the Napier Cathedral during the earthquake, i s nearly recovered to health at New Plymouth and is resuming his duties in a few davs
