REFUSAL OF CUTS
BY MARINE COOKS AND STEWARDS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 13. The- Union Company’s steamers Waimarino and Katoa are- still held up by the refusal of members of the Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union to sign articles embodying a 10 per cent, reduction in wages m accordance with the Arbitration Court’s general order.
“The position is unchanged,” stated an official of the Union Company today. He also denied a, rumour that the Waimarino’s cargo was being transhipped to the Malieno, which sails to-night for the south. WATER SIDER’S REFUSAL. TO WORK TWO OVERSEA SHIPS. WELiLIXGTON, June in. The Wellington watersiders refused work this afternoon on. the home liners Port Hu on. and Port Fairy, owing to a disagreement over the wages. The vessels were being worked this morning. The two ships mentioned were the only ones requiring to lie worked this afternoon.
AIR H. A. GLASSON’S DEATH. TJAIARU, June 13. H. A. Glasson, warehouseman, oi New Brighton. Christchurch, who was seriously injured in a collision with a train at Washdyke on Wednesday, died in the hospital to-day, lie never having regained consciousness.
