A tornado unparalleled in the history o. honili Australia swept across Ninth Adelaide ami Hackney to-day. '1 lie tornado canned outbuildings before it, hut nobody was hurt. It a.so uprooted big tines and partly wrecked live cottages, and the telegraph lines. Tlie eye witnesses declared that it was preceded by a violent roar and a swirling of dust. Sheets of corrugated iron Hew overhead, and were deposited hundreds of yards away. The damage is estimated at some thousand* sterling.
