Liquor thieves when rifling the cellars of the Sail Salvador Legation hero were discovered by the Charge B’Aifaires, Mr Leivn, upon his returning from a card party, late at night. He was in time to prevent them from carting off many cases of choice liquor, which had been piled up in the Legation yard.

The thieves attacked him. however, inflicing setrious wounds .Seventeen stitches were inserted in his head. Mr Leivn is now lying in the local hospital.

Mr Stimson (United States Seers tary), has sent him a note o' regret, and has expressed the assurance of special policing of the Legation in future, and he added that every effort will be made to apprehend his assailants.
