TEXTILE DUTIES
THE SCULLIN MINISTRY. (Received thi* <jav it 9.40 a.in.) CANBERRA, May 15. The Scullin Ministry may be seriously embarrassed if the Beasley group in the House of Representatives persists in its intention, which lias became known, to vote against the textile duties imposed by the Ministry. When that section o( the tariff schedu’e is reached, should the Opposition he united in hostility to all or any of these items the Ministry is certain to he defeated. No announcement has yet been made by the Federal Ministry of the steps it proposes to take to meet the Australian debts falling due in London on Juno 3. Air Scullin stated: “The Treasurer and myself are going into the question now”. In unofficial circ-1 's it is thought that an endeavour is being made to float a short term loan in London.
