OIL FROM COAL
STRIKING DEVELOPMENTS. (British Official 11 ireiess.) RUGBY. April 9. The recent announcement of the formation of an International Company holding patents and interests of several leading companies in the hydrogeneration processes for producing oil from coal, gives point to the references to technical progress in these processes made by Sir Harry McGowan, as chairman, at the annual meeting of the Imperial Chemical Industries, Limited, which is one ol the companies concerned. He says that research lias led to striking developments and an experimental unit which had produced with 110 appreciable loss petrol having anti-knock qualities equal to the finest, grades now on the market. The pooling of the resources of the leading world groups is bound to he 0 f great commercial importance fn future years.
